My name is Stephanie. I was born and raised in central Texas, where I got my bachelor’s degree from Baylor University (sic ’em, Bears!). I have now been in the DC area for about 10 years, where I live with my husband and two kids. I’m an autism mom, yogi, and you’ll often catch me staying up way too late with a good book.
You might be surprised to learn that my background is actually in medicine; I have a BS in biology (pre-med) and a minor in English. However, I fell into finance eight or so years ago and have never looked back.
Though I had been an editor and writer since graduating college, I started my financial career as the managing editor of a well-known personal finance website in 2014. I quickly realized just how enthralled I was with the financial world and after a few years with that site, I made the jump to being a freelance writer full-time. I have loved my “job” ever since.
I am currently a candidate for CFP® certification, and plan to eventually work as a financial advisor for families with special needs children. My goal is to help them navigate the sensitive challenges that come with planning for their child’s future and long-term care, using my own experiences and personal passions as a driving force.
